DIEGO URCOLA, trumpet

Diego has been a member of Cuban saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera’s Quintet (winner of a Latin Grammy Award), and is currently a member of Avishai Cohen’s International Vamp Band, with whom he has recorded and toured all over the world.

He has also toured and recorded with some of the top names in Jazz and Latin Jazz, such as Slide Hampton, the United Nations Orchestra (founded by Dizzy Gillespie), Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Jimmy Heath, Steve Turre, Joe Henderson, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, and the Milt Jackson All-Star Band.

He appeared in the film “Calle 54” and toured the US and Europe with the Calle 54 All Star Band, along a who-is-who in contemporary Latin Jazz.

Diego was awarded second place in the 1997 Thelonius Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition.
